Results of a two-year Kansas Economic Impact of the Arts Study indicate that expenditures by arts and culture organizations and audiences total more than $153.5 million.
The $153.5 million in total economic activity has a significant statewide impact, generating the following:

4,612 full-time equivalent jobs

$95 million in household income

$6 million in local government tax revenues

$9 million in state government tax revenues
Nationally the nonprofit arts and culture industry generates $166.2 billion in economic activity every year — $63.1 billion in spending by organizations and an additional $103.1 billion in event-related spending by their audiences.
Between February and November 2009, the Kansas Arts Commission conducted a public opinion survey on arts education in the state. The survey received 504 responses from educators, artists and the general public, who answered 20 questions about the arts in relation to the education of Kansas youth.
Below are a list of a few findings:

99.7% of respondents said the arts were important to education.

99.6% of respondents said the arts were important to child development.

When asked '"what are the three main obstacles to having arts instruction in your schools," 84.5% of respondents said funding, 49.0% of respondents said time and 42% said academic priorities.
