Framing Our Future: Economic Impact of the Arts
Kansas Arts Symposium
Wednesday, March 4, 2009 Topeka, Kansas
Symposium: 12:45 - 5:00 pm
Kansas Artist Fellowships and Awards Reception: 5:15 - 7:00 pm
From major metropolitan areas to small rural towns, research shows that the nonprofit arts and culture industry is an economically sound investment. It attracts audiences, spurs business development, supports jobs, and generates government revenue. Locally as well as nationally, the arts mean business.
The Kansas Arts Commission will release the results of the Kansas Economic Impact of the Arts Study, as well as discuss lessons learned from the communities of Junction City, Kansas City, Salina and Wichita where economic impact studies were done earlier. Participants will actively engage in a facilitated discussion about how to use this data to make the case for the arts in communities and statewide.
