
Step 3: Nomination Categories and Submission Information
Artist — An artist, ensemble or collective residing in Kansas actively working in disciplines such as the literary arts (playwriting, screenwriting, fiction and poetry); performing arts (dance, music, theater and film/video); fine and visual art (fine art, folk or traditional art, crafts, interdisciplinary digital media); architecture and industrial or commercial design.

Arts Advocate — An individual, couple, organization or business dedicated to furthering an art form or the arts in general through promotional, volunteer, administrative, legislative or professional efforts. The nomination should reflect activity beyond normal expectations or responsibilities if the nominee is an arts organization or an employee of a college, university or arts organization.

Arts Community — A city or county in Kansas that has demonstrated extraordinary leadership and foresight in arts activities and has committed, on an ongoing basis, funds, to the growth, development and sustainability of arts programs, activities, organizations and artists.

Arts-in-Education — An individual, school or organization that demonstrates dedication and innovation and has made a significant contribution to arts education in the state. Nominations for individuals should be for outstanding services that have made a unique and long-lasting impact on students. Educators should be nominated on the basis of their educational impact on their students rather than their scholarly or artistic work. If scholarly, promotional or artistic work is emphasized in the nomination, it should be submitted in the arts advocate or artist categories. Entire schools or organizations may be nominated if their approaches to and successes in arts education are exemplary.

Arts Organization — A public agency or private, nonprofit organization whose primary mission is presenting or producing outstanding arts opportunities to a community, region or the state as a whole or has demonstrated extraordinary leadership in the arts.

Arts Patron — An individual, couple, family or business whose fiscal generosity and participation has made a noteworthy contribution to the arts in a Kansas community, region or the state as a whole. A nominee in this category is exempt from the residency requirement.
