Guidelines and Nomination Materials
Nomination Deadline: October 15, 2009
The Governor of Kansas and the Kansas Arts Commission annually honor artists, organizations, businesses, communities and arts supporters who have made outstanding arts and cultural contributions to Kansas and the nation. Awardees are nominated by members of the public, selected by a panel and honored at a dinner and ceremony in spring 2010.
If you would like to submit a nomination for the Governor’s Arts Awards, please review these guidelines and review the list of past awardees to ensure that your nominee hasn’t previously received an award.
Governor’s Arts Awards Program Description
The Governor’s Arts Awards recognize outstanding contributions to the arts and culture in Kansas by citizens, organizations, businesses and communities. In 2010, awards will be given in six categories. Nominations are accepted from Kansas individuals or organizations – self-nominations are not accepted – and may be submitted with or without the knowledge of the nominee.
Nominations will be considered by a selection panel who score and rank nominations according to criteria.
Please Note:
The nominator, not the nominee, will be notified after the panel meeting regarding the status of the nomination.
Winners will be honored at a reception and awards ceremony hosted by the Kansas Arts Commission on March 11, 2010 in Topeka. The Governor will be invited to attend. There is a charge for the event, although the winner in each category will receive one complimentary ticket for him or herself plus one ticket for a guest. Additional tickets must be purchased.
