Guidelines and Nomination Materials

The Governor of Kansas and the Kansas Arts Commission annually honor artists, organizations, businesses, schools, communities and arts supporters who have made outstanding arts and cultural contributions to Kansas and the nation. Awardees are nominated by members of the public, selected by a panel and honored at a reception and ceremony in spring 2011 in Topeka. The Governor will be invited to attend.
If you would like to submit a nomination for the Governor’s Arts Awards, please review these guidelines and review the list of past awardees to ensure that your nominee hasn’t previously received an award.
In 2011, awards will be given in six categories. Nominations are accepted from Kansas individuals or organizations – self-nominations are not accepted – and may be submitted with or without the knowledge of the nominee.
Nominations will be considered by a selection panel who score and rank nominations according to criteria.
The nominator, not the nominee, will be notified after the panel meeting regarding the status of the nomination.
Each winner will receive a maximum of two complimentary tickets to the awards ceremony. Additional tickets must be purchased.
