Governor’s Arts Awards

Honor those who make our state great!

The Governor’s Arts Awards are honors given annually to distinguished Kansas artists, organizations, patrons and educators, and has been given annually since 1974 by the governor and the Kansas Arts Commission. A panel consisting of members of the Kansas Arts Commission, a representative from the Governor’s office and arts professionals select the winners.

Governor's Arts Awards' Objectives:

  • To honor those who make substantial and outstanding contributions to the arts and culture in Kansas.

  • To elevate the public profile of the arts in the state of Kansas.

  • To encourage others to achieve and sustain high standards of excellence in artistic achievement and support.

Nominations are closed for 2010. The slection Panel will convene on December 9 to review and score nominations. Once the panel's recommendations are approved by the Commissoners, winners will be announced.

Governor's Arts Award winners will be honored at a reception and ceremony in March.
