Document Submission Information for New Applicants

A first-time nonprofit, tax-exempt applicant or an applicant with a name change must include one copy of the following:

  • Federal Tax-Exempt Status Letter
Letter from the Internal Revenue Service confirming the organization’s tax-exempt status. This item does not pertain to public entities.

  • State of Kansas Not-for-Profit Incorporation Letter
An applicant organization must be incorporated in the state of Kansas as a not-for-profit corporation and be in good standing at the time of application and have a Kansas address. The Commission will verify with the Secretary of State’s office that at the time of application, the organization is in good standing. This does not pertain to public entities. All organizations applying for Commission funds must be registered as domestic corporations.

You may request a duplicate copy of your organization’s not-for-profit incorporation letter from the Secretary of State’s office at 785/296-4564 (fax 785/296-4570). Submit one copy to the Commission with the original application. Applicants may check their organizations' status by going to www.kssos.org.

  • Accessibility Checklist
An accessibility checklist is required for each program or project and for each facility or site.

The Kansas Arts Commission office retains this checklist; repeat applicants do not need to resubmit this paperwork with each application unless programming at a new facility or site, or ADA-compliant modifications have been made to the facility or site.
