Kansas Arts on Tour Roster - Classical Music Ensembles
The Fairmount String Quartet
The Fairmount String Quartet offers rich musical experiences of the string quartet genre to all audiences. Full-length recitals feature music from contrasting historical periods or may, upon request, concentrate on a single composer. When appropriate, the quartet talks briefly about each work performed to provide the audience with some interesting historical and musical insight. This allows listeners who may not be familiar with the repertoire a helpful guide for listening.
Program Descriptions
- Children’s concerts are usually 45 minutes and are fast-paced with an entertaining variety of music. Basic listening skills, elements of music and historical references are emphasized and designed to engage and educate young listeners from K-12.
- The Fairmount String Quartet also specializes in coaching and working with high school students on chamber music concepts, teaching rehearsal techniques, basic string techniques and large and small ensemble playing. Sessions are presented in a fun and energetic atmosphere.
