Program Descriptions
The Lawrence Chamber Orchestra is a professional music ensemble based in Lawrence, Kansas. The group can range in size from 15 to 40, depending on repertoire. It performs a regular concert season in Lawrence, as well as concerts in other towns and educational venues. A typical program runs from 60 to 80 minutes (including intermission; the amount of music can be reduced for particular events, e.g. educational visits to schools), and will feature both standard and lesser-known works drawn from the great heritage of western art music written for small orchestra. We draw our soloists from established musicians in the area, including faculty of the University of Kansas, Park University, and the Conservatory at the University of Missouri, Kansas City.

Performance Fees
- Fees for the orchestra can be calculated by multiplying the per-hour rehearsal fee of $25 per player, and the set concert fee of $100, by the number of players involved. For example, a string ensemble of 17 players would come to $850 per rehearsal ($50 per player, two-hour rehearsal) and $1,700 for each concert. Normally, five rehearsals are held, thus bringing the total rehearsal/concert cost to $5,950, although this will increase as woodwind and brass players are added, depending on repertoire, and can be worked out for each appearance beyond the normal five scheduled rehearsals per concert.
- Ticket prices for our regular concerts are adjusted for seniors and students, and can be further adjusted for group rates.
- Soloists' and conductor's fees.
Technical Requirements
- Physical requirements are the requisite number of chairs and music stands for players and soloists, and a larger stand (when available) for the conductor.
- Large instruments such as percussion, timpani, and pianos must be provided by the sponsoring venue.
