Dale Easton's The Drunkard

Program Descriptions

Originally taken from the text of the historical temperance play Ten Nights In A Barroom, The Drunkard is unequalled for its wonderfully broad style. Joe Morgan, father of Little Mary, learns from his friends and fellow townspeople how to transcend the pitfalls and dangers of “The Demon Rum.” He emerges triumphant in the end. Always followed by an Olio (a vaudeville show, not a butter substitute), these authentic vaudeville routines and songs are a pure delight. Ragtime piano accompaniment adds the final touch.

The Drunkard appeals to ages 10 to 100-years-old. The group teaches an acting style and vintage genres to their audiences in a fun, lively way.

Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary. — Cecil Beaton
