Laughing does matter! Leslie and Jay Cady carry on the vaudeville tradition of variety entertainment in innovative ways.  Their signature show, Laughing Matters, is a glorious celebration of juggling, mime, magic, and duet humor for all ages.  It is a flexible repertoire of routines that can be a full evening’s entertainment or a shorter show if needed. They use the same skills, characters, and infectious sense of fun in unique content-rich programs for schools and libraries.  Since 1980 Jay and Leslie have given over 6000 performances in 33 states and seven foreign countries. They studied mime with Marcel Marceau and twice received nominations for “Best Original Work” from the Best of Kansas City Theater Awards.

Program Descriptions

• Theatrical Performance Package: One performance of “Jay & Leslie’s Laughing Matters” (up to 90 minutes without intermission) plus a teaser performance (teaser can be a school program).

• Festival Package: Two 30-minute stage shows and two 60-minute juggling workshops.

• School Package: Two programs from the following (curriculum theme in parentheses—programs are 45 minutes long unless otherwise noted):

  • Sum of Our Favorite Numbers (Math)
• Read It Right Now (Reading)
• Juggling the Earth’s Resources (Ecology)
• How Freedom Works (American Government)
• Professor I Drop (Science)
• Letters, Numbers, Shapes, and Colors (Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten – 30 minutes)
• Laughing Matters (excerpts from the theater show)
