Program Descriptions

The Slapstick Circus!: This is a one-man stage show featuring Richard Renner as the VodVill Clown performing circus skills and pantomime techniques. A completely silent act, Richard entertains with physical comedy, pratfalls and circus skills. Objects attack, machines refuse to work and all the failures ultimately lead to success. The VodVill clown explores the possibilities of circus skills in the real world.

Read All About It!: Through Renner’s well-crafted comic characters, we take a tour of the library and share their favorite books. Students understand the thrill of reading a good book and the effect it can have on a lifetime of learning.

The ReCylce Show: REduce, REuse and REcycle in a REdiculous way! Richard Renner, our goofy garbage man, leads students through the wonderful world of trash and resources with wacky inventions, circus arts, music and interactive games. Through juggling and magic tricks with trash, special attention is made to show how our personal choices affect our environment.

Roving performances feature Renner portraying a silent unicycling clown or as the Hi-Pockets Parade in comic roles, all peforming on stilts.

Performances vary but are usually one hour.

Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary. — Cecil Beaton
