Kansas Arts on Tour Roster - Theatre

Wichita Children's Theatre

Wichita Children's Theatre

The Wichita Children’s Theatre Touring Company is an ensemble of four to six professional actors that performs classic children’s shows for schools and other community arts organizations. The shows travel with complete sets and period costumes and are adaptable to a variety of traditional and multimedia spaces. The company’s purpose is to provide the experience of live theater for Kansas children, enhancing their appreciation of the arts in their lives.

Program Descriptions

WCT will tour two productions for the coming 2008-09 season, which begins the fist week of October and runs through the first week of March.  The shows can be scheduled to be presented together (on the same day or consecutive days) or they can be presented separately, depending upon each sponsor’s needs.

For younger children and families, WCT will be presenting The Three Little Pigs. In this musical adaptation by Kevin M. Reese, Mama Pig gives her three little babies some valuable advice as she sends them out into the world.  She tells them how to stay healthy and happy, and tells them to beware of the Big Bad Wolf! One by one the little pigs encounter the Wolf, and one by one the pigs teach the Wolf a lesson about getting along with others.

Our other offering will be Shakespeare to Go! This show is appropriate for pre-teens and teens. The audience will enjoy the antics of the bumbling, kazoo-tooting troupe of actors who frame scenes from some of Shakespeare’s best-known plays. Students will identify with the distinct personalities of the actors and will be drawn into the scenes without even knowing they’re learning Shakespeare!

Workshops for all ages are available.

Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary. — Cecil Beaton
