Kansas Arts License Plate
In August 2009, the Kansas Arts Commission invited Kansas visual artists to submit designs for a new Kansas Arts License Plate. The deadline for submissions was October 15, 2009.
The Kansas Arts Commission would like to thank you all of the artists who submitted designs to the Kansas Arts License Plate competition. We are grateful to for the submissions and of the support of the arts in Kansas.
All the design submissions were examined carefully by the Kansas Arts Commission and the Division of Motor Vehicles. This was a particularly difficult assignment, and the designs submitted simply did not work for a license plate or had already been used on other Kansas plates.
The Commission has decided to move forward in another direction. We remain committed to the license plate project as it is so important to building support for the arts in Kansas and will work with a Kansas artist to do so.
While we cannot comment on individual designs, if you have any questions regarding the Kansas Arts License Plate competition or program please contact Llewellyn Crain, executive director of the Kansas Arts Commission, at .
The plate is scheduled for production in 2010 or once funds are raised for its manufacture. The license plate will be available for all Kansans to purchase for their vehicles, with proceeds gowing towards grant programs of the Kansas Arts Commission.
The Kansas Arts Commission welcomes support for the new license plate. Donor levels include Leading Donors, Driving Donors and Supporting Donors, but donors of all levels are welcome.
