Kansas Arts Commission

To the Stars Poetry Contest

To celebrate April as National Poetry Month, the Kansas Arts Commission is hosting a weekly poetry contest, To the Stars. This year's contest will focus on the wilds and delights of Kansas weather.

There are two categories for each contest: one for professional writers (those who have published one or more books of poetry with an established press, not self-published) and one for amateur writers.
To compete, writers must submit a poem (or poems) based on the week's given theme. Poems must be submitted within the text of an email, as well as attached in a Rich Text Format document or as a Word document, to KSpoetlaureate@gmail.com.

The contests will be judged by Poet Laureate of Kansas Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg. Winning poems will be announced within one week of each contest deadline.

Winning poems will be published on the Kansas Arts Commission website and on the 150 Kansas Poems website.
