Congratulations to 2009 Kansas Poetry Out Loud State Champion Baldwin High School senior Madeline Roger!
Roger traveled to Washington, D.C. to compete in the national finals in April 2009 to compete for a $20,000 scholarship. The Kansas state competition was held Friday, March 13, 2009, at the Brown v Board of Education National Historic Site in Topeka.
As the state champion, Roger received $200 and an all-expenses-paid trip to the Poetry Out Loud National Finals in Washington, D.C. As the state champion's school, Baldwin High School will receive a $500 stipend for the purchase of poetry books.
