Tips and FAQs

Application Tips

  • All information submitted with applications becomes part of the public record and will be made available to the public upon request. In order to protect your samples and/or other written information, copyright your work and provide copyright information with the symbol © where appropriate.

  • Applications must be computer generated using 12-point Times New Roman font and 1" margins. Handwritten applications are not eligible for consideration.

  • Proofread your application for typographical, spelling and grammatical errors. Make sure all photocopies are readable. Ask someone who is not familiar with your work to proofread your application for clarity and mistakes.

Work Sample Tips

  • Select work samples that show your strongest technical and artistic abilities.

  • Select work samples that convey the breadth of your styles and the range of performers.

  • Work samples may not be reviewed in their entirety by the advisory panel.

  • Video work samples should include "real time" footage from a performance or workshop. Promotional videos with very brief clips and/or voice and music dubbed on top of the visual elements are not acceptable as examples of your work.

Application FAQs

  • How much funding is available to presenting organizations from the Kansas Arts Commission through the Arts on Tour Grant Program?
If presenter applications are approved, the Kansas Arts Commission will underwrite 40% of all contractual fees of Roster Artists up to a maximum of $7,500, until funds for this program are expended.

  • When two or more organizations work together to bring an artist to their community, can they apply for underwriting support?
If organizations are involved in collaborative projects, support from the Commission for the project may be requested by only one of the organizations.

  • Who pays the artist?
KAC funds are distributed to the organization. The organization is responsible for payment in full to the artist for services rendered.
